How do Quickbooks location hierarchies ('departments') translate in Causal?

I am having trouble understanding how Quickbooks Locations work in Causal. The data connection picks them as the ‘departments’ category but loses the hierarchical relationships. For example, Hebden Bridge is a sub-location of Calderdale. Halifax is also a sub-location and has its own sub-locations.

In the category tab, however, they are all brought through and these relationships are lost. When I then try to apply categories to variables this results in double-counting. The transactions associated with Halifax get counted again for Calderdale.

Causal (or Quickbooks) then seems to complete a reconciliation process that results in a correct aggregate figure but shows incorrect figures for locations that are not at the bottom of the hierarchy.

What is the best way to avoid double-counting?
