Suppose you create a new variable that will be categorized because the formula includes categorized variables. Now your realize after you start typing, that the formula will be too big and you need to open the big formula box. You click on the arrow to open the box. This causes the system to inject what appears to be an “Enter” and it calculates everything, usually giving an error because only a fragment of a formula has been entered. Why does clicking on the down arrow to open the formula box cause an auto-Enter?
Also, somewhere in the process the system stops highlighting the cell of formula entry, so after all the unexpected category row insertion jumping around happens, you can’t figure out what formula you were trying to enter.
